Is a Bed-and-Breakfast (B&B) Ideal for You?
In Europe many people make a kill with Bread and Breakfast business, why not here and why not you?
There are many people who dream of owning their own bed-and-breakfast (B&B) business, and B&B establishments are usually far superior to the chain motels that dot the landscape.
But owning and operating a
bed and breakfast is far more than just providing a clean bed and a decent meal to travelers
The location of a bed and breakfast has a great deal to do with the services that guests will require and even expect from you.
For example, if your B&B is located near an amusement park, your guests will expect you to know all about all of the attractions at the amusement park as well as about all transportation options.
They will expect you to be able to give them good advice about eating establishments in the area as well.
On the other hand, if your bed and breakfast is located in a small town or in a rural setting, your guests will expect you to provide transportation from the airport, bus station, or train station, to your bed and breakfast. It is amazing how many small towns do not have a reliable taxi service.
You are not required to provide any meal other than breakfast, but providing snack food and soft drinks will help to assure that your guests will give you good reviews and return for second and third visits.
No matter the location of your bed and breakfast, you must be prepared to meet the needs of your guests. Their need may be a simple aspirin for a headache or a new toothbrush for the one that they were sure they packed.
Or, your guests might require transportation to the nearest emergency room. The basic rule of owning a bed and breakfast is the same as for a boy scout: BE PREPARED!
